The past months consisted of solid training sessions and a lot of fundraising through actions. Each team had to raise at least 5500 euros, which was the entry ticket to participate. In total, our team raised 43 000 euros!
On Thursday, the starting signal was given in Lyon. Via Burgundy, the Champagne region and Nord-Pas de Calais, we cycled to Oudenaarde. From there, we rode straight to the finish line in Mechelen. We each rode in stages of 250 km on average and thus reached the final score of 1000 km after 4 intensive, but unforgettable days.

Meanwhile, the results are known. All 1140 teams collected the record amount of 5 700 000 euro. Fantastic! With that money, Kom op tegen Kanker funds scientific cancer research. Thanks to innovative and sometimes groundbreaking research, cancer patients' chances of recovery increase. And Clasal is happy to contribute to that. The research ranges from new surgical techniques to new radiation strategies and more.
We would like to thank Kom op tegen Kanker for the very hands-on organisation of the event. We were given the opportunity to ride completely traffic-free, like a 'real' peloton, on public roads accompanied by motorcyclists. In addition, cycling technicians and medical aid workers were always present. The supply points were also always taken care of down to the last detail. We will definitely be back next year!
